What You’ll Learn
Prepare for gas testing and select appropriate equipment.
Conduct atmospheric testing in various environments.
Interpret gas reading results accurately.
Identify and respond to atmospheric hazards.
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
Apply emergency and rescue procedures.
Record and document testing results in compliance with procedures.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment and are eligible to conduct gas testing in the Resources and Infrastructure industries.
Requirements
Age: Must be 18 years or older.
Residency: Proof of WA residency (e.g., WA driver’s licence or utility bill).
ID: Valid Photo ID (Passport, Driver’s Licence, or Proof of Age Card).
USI: Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Language: Conversational level of English for reading, responding, and interpreting safety information (No translators permitted).
PPE: Enclosed footwear is required. All other PPE (Gas Detectors, safety gear) will be supplied.
Physical: Physical capability to handle gas testing equipment and complete practical exercises.
Re-enrolment Policy
Participants must complete all components of the course within the allocated timeframe. Failure to achieve competency may require re-enrolment and payment of associated fees.

Theory assessment (Gas testing principles).
Practical atmospheric testing exercises.
Selection and preparation of testing equipment.
Interpretation of results and hazard identification.
Emergency response scenarios.
Verbal questioning.
