This face-to-face course delivers the nationally recognised unit RIIVEH305F – Operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle, ensuring you are equipped with the essential skills to safely operate 4WD vehicles on and off-road.

What You’ll Learn
Identify terrain and weather conditions for safe 4WD operation.
Conduct pre-start checks and fault identification.
Operate 4WD vehicles over difficult terrain (e.g., steep gradients, sand).
Use vehicle recovery equipment safely (Snatch straps, recovery boards).
Perform basic maintenance and change wheels.
Stall recovery techniques.
Implement environmental protection measures.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment and are eligible to operate 4WD vehicles in the Resources and Infrastructure industries.
Requirements
Age: Must be 18 years or older.
Licence: Must hold a current, valid Australian Driver’s Licence (Class C).
ID: Valid Photo ID (Passport, Driver’s Licence, or Proof of Age Card).
USI: Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Language: Conversational level of English for reading, responding, and interpreting safety information.
PPE: Enclosed footwear is required. All other PPE will be supplied.
Physical: Must be physically capable of performing vehicle checks and changing a tyre.
Re-enrolment Policy
Participants must complete all components of the course within the allocated timeframe. Failure to achieve competency may require re-enrolment and payment of associated fees.
The Assessment Includes:
Theory assessment (Vehicle dynamics and safety).
Pre-operational vehicle inspections.
Practical driving assessment in various terrain conditions.
Demonstration of recovery techniques.
Changing a wheel and performing minor maintenance.

This is a Nationally Recognised Training course:
Statement of Attainment: Issued by All West Training within 3–7 business days of passing.
Wallet Card: A physical wallet card verifying your competency is mailed directly to you after successful completion.
